Letter from Matthew Lilley

6:22 Friends and Partners,

What a wild time to be alive! In these desperate times we rejoice when students accept Jesus or pray for their lost friends at Dwell gatherings. We are amazed that young adults will spent 10 straight hours worshiping and praying at our Burn gatherings. We are thrilled at every opportunity to travel to a church or venue and share music and the Gospel. We get excited when a shy, passive Christian student becomes bold and expressive in their praise and worship. That is the mission of 6:22, and by His grace people’s lives are being changed!

The need for what God has called us to do is growing more and more apparent. I recently was driving behind a car with a Jesus fish on the back that had the word “pagan” in place of Jesus! I believe we need to support as many churches, ministries and ministers as possible in these times. It is too late to worry about competition and man-made divisions. Let us unite as the body of Christ and worship Jesus boldly so that the lost may know His love.

In Joel 2 we see a God-given biblical response to desperate times:
Blow the trumpet in Zion,
Consecrate a fast,
Call a sacred assembly;
Gather the people,
Sanctify the congregation,
Assemble the elders...
Our annual Day Seven event is this kind of sacred assembly. Aside from Worshipfest, this is our largest gathering each year. We will be back at the Greenville Town Common on Friday, May 1 from 7-9pm hosting a city-wide night of worship and prayer. 6:22’s worship leaders will be providing music. Clark Stallings of Hope of Glory Ministries will be preaching the Gospel, and local pastors will be leading prayers for our city. Those involved will be fasting for one week leading up to the event. I believe Day Seven could have a HUGE impact on our region. Please plan on attending and help us spread the word.

The budget for Day Seven is approximately $3400 which covers renting the amphitheater, renting a sound system, tent rental, honorariums, promotions and even the porta-potties!
We have a few hundred dollars in our bank account and are asking you to prayerfully consider making a donation to help us cover the costs for Day Seven. Thank you!

This March: Dwell continues and

Dwell + theBurn: Unplugged

It's March, and we are on our third month of Dwell! So far we have been to Family Life Tabernacle, Faith Assembly of God, and now our next stop is Open Door Ministries (click for Google Maps).

Join us this month from 7-9pm with Beaty Bass leading worship and Matthew Lilley giving the message on John 17. Make sure you come a little early to fellowship with everyone and be ready for great night of worship!

Please go to the First Fridays link for more info on how Dwell is evolving and the complete schedule.

theBurn : Unplugged
theBURN is continuous priesthood ministry to God through music, prayer and fasting for the well-being of the city of Greenville from 10pm to 10am in the upstairs Lounge at Open Door Ministries. The Burn is a city-wide gathering ("city-wide" simply means we are open to, and want to serve the whole body of Christ in this region, as opposed to one particular church or group). Worship and prayer leaders from our region will take shifts to keep continuous ministry rising to God throughout the night. This Burn is "Unplugged" because the room is small and there will not be full bands. The music will be mostly "solo" worship leaders. The schedule will alternate between one-hour sets of devotional worship and intercessory worship.

For this Burn event we are joining with the prayer ministry at Covenant United Methodist Church for a week of fasting March 1-7. Coffee, water and other drinks will be available at the Burn, but no food is allowed at the gathering. Check out http://prayforgreenville.org/ for the worship leader schedule and more info on theBurn.

theBurn Schedule:
10-11pm (intercession) - Matthew Lilley
11-12pm (devotional) - James Bellamy
12-1am (intercession) - Daniel Phelps with Kenn Pritchard
1-2am (devotional) - Cameron Taylor
2-3am (intercession) - Ginny Corbett with Autumn Massey
3-4am (devotional) - Stephen Dupree
4-5am (intercession) - Greg Wheeler with Michael Wheeler
5-6am (devotional) - Greg Wheeler
6-7am (devotional) - Wendy Adams
7-8am (devotional) - Scott Bircher
8-9am (intercession) - Shepard Lilley with Haley Edens
9-10am (devotional) - TBA

Calling all Volunteers!

Since 2002 6:22 has been a growing and thriving ministry with the mission to reach youth. Through 6:22 many have been saved, healed, encouraged, and even given opportunities to volunteer. Now, with more opportunities to get involved, what are you waiting for? We currently need greeters and several people to be willing to hang up flyers around where they live. If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Kaitlin Leis or Rebekah Ireland at marketing@622ministries.org.

Upcoming Events

Matthew and Shepard Lilley will be playing worship sets around Eastern North Carolina this month starting with Journey Church in New Bern March 8. March 21 they will be in Charlotte playing at the FUEL Music Venue. Another venue is Collide, a weekly service held at Rumors every Sunday night in downtown Greenville. For times, more dates, and any other info, please go to www.matthewlilley.com and go to the itinerary.

Core Values & History of 6:22

If you head over to the purpose page on our web site, you will see that we have added a lot of information.
  1. We have added a section called Core Values. Our Board of Directors has been praying and working through these values for months. God has been leading us to clarify the "message" of 6:22, and to intentionally express the things for which we stand. These are not new ideas. If you have been to 6:22 gatherings, you will probably be familiar with these concepts. However, we felt it was wise to articulate these values so that we will be less likely to veer off path in the future. You will also notice that the name of Jesus is mentioned in every value on the list. He is most valuable to us.
  2. A fairly detailed History of 6:22 has also been posted. It is timeline guiding you through our journey so far. There are a lot of details, but still many things were not included. Ideally, we hope to make a video or slideshow to guide you through our history in a visual way. For now, you have to read!
